“Then I turned to see the voice that spoke with me. And having turned I saw seven golden lampstands, and in the midst of the seven lampstands One like the Son of Man, clothed with a garment down to the feet and girded about the chest with a golden band. His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes like a flame of fire; His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace, and His voice as the sound of many waters; He had in His right hand seven stars, out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword, and His countenance was like the sun shining in its strength. And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me, “Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last. I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death” (Revelation 1:12-18).
Having acute divine perception is a major factor in effectively walking with, and for God anytime, anywhere, any day. Divine perception gives you an edge over your enemies 100% of the time. Because you have genuine insight into God’s plans and promises for your life you are not afraid of your enemies. You can stand up to their wiles and schemes and defeat them at all times.
Scriptures affirm that God’s people perish for lack of knowledge, but those who know their God shall be strong and carry out great exploits and even instruct others in the paths of righteousness (Hosea 4:6; Daniel 11:32b-33a). It is no wonder that a major part of the apostle Paul’s prayers were focused on having revelation knowledge of God’s plans for His life and for those he was ministering to, including knowing how to effectively deputize for God on earth (See Ephesians 1:17-21; Colossians 1:9-14; Philippians 1:9-11; 3:7-10).
The apostle John, while on exile on the island of Patmos, beheld the glory of God. In one of those divine moments he had unusual perceptions of God that made him to fall down flat on his face to worship God. Notice on that occasion, that the first thing he heard God tell him was, “Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last. I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death” (Rev. 1:17-18).
Why was that? Because God wanted to reassure John of His love for him, and His closeness to him, in spite of his circumstances. He also recognized that FEAR would hinder John from perceiving all that He wanted to show him and doing all that He wanted him to do. God wanted John to have a fresh understanding of Him as the God of his past, present, and future—the God who was, and is alive forevermore—the God he could fully trust to help him accomplish all His plans for his life and fulfil his destiny too. Thus John understood that his life was totally secured in God’s hands regardless of the challenges he was facing at the time. With that he could embrace his destiny head on to the glory of God.
In the same way, God will have you and me focus on His love for us; on His greatness, ability, and power over the challenges in our lives. When we do, our circumstances will become stepping stones to see the greatness, the goodness and the glory of God manifested in and through our lives.
