THE LIFESTYLE OF A TRUE WINNER—PART ONE!

I believe God that you are indeed prospering in your spirit, soul and body as God designed it to be. I am so excited about the awesome manifestations of God’s glory in and through our meetings and ministrations, transforming lives in many places and in many ways to the glory of His name. We give Him all the glory for all He has done, and keeps doing, to confirm His love to us over and over again, and reminding as well as assuring us that we are destined to win in this life. You can actually view some of these testimonies from our website or our YouTube channel (Robe of Righteousness Ministries Int’l). Thus, in this newsletter, I feel led to share part of a very powerful message I shared many years ago through our Overcomers Digest magazine, and also recently at a Career Development programme in Sheffield, trusting God that it will be a great blessing to you. We want to consider here the lifestyle of a true winner, and also read testimonies of people who God enabled to walk in amazing victory in spite of the challenges they faced. Be blessed as you read.

To win or succeed in life is a major feat anyone will want to accomplish, although not everyone attains it. Who is a winner you may ask? A winner is someone who is successful at a competition, having met the rules and regulations of the contest. A winner can be rightly described as a champion whose enduring, dedicated, patient, courageous, bold, and faithful qualities endeared him to the victory circle. A winner is prized highly by people because he or she has excelled or triumphed in whatever contest they have engaged in. All over the world, people are undertaking various trainings in body building, dieting, beauty therapy, sports, the arts and culture, music, and writing, etc. in order to be adequately prepared to participate in one form of contest or another. They do all this to win a prize, which sadly is all perishable because the end results do not have any eternal value. Notice, that although they are celebrated by their peers and fans when they win, some of them live lives with no moral values, and engage in all kinds of vices which actually affects them negatively along the way. I dare say that some of these people do not have the true mindset of the winner, which can only be sourced in the divine—GOD. This is why it is necessary to clarify that there are two categories of winners in the world, notably, the ones that win by the world’s standard, and the ones that win by the divine standard. It is the latter group of winners we want to consider in this study.

To win in life, it is important to go back to the only true reference book for winners, the Bible, and see what it says about winners. Interestingly, the Bible reminds us that, as believers, we are engaged in a race which we need to win and can win, if we follow our model, the Lord Jesus Christ, saying, “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God” (Hebrews 12:10-2). Also, we discover that the Apostle Paul drew our attention to the fact that winners must compete according to the set rules and finish the race set before them. In his words, “if anyone competes in athletics, he is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules … I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day” (2 Timothy 2:5; 4:7-8). A good question to ask here is, are we really running the race set before us to win? If the answer is yes, then we need to take heed to discover the essential mindset of a winner, a mindset we all need to cultivate in order to run our race and finish successfully. And now let us go on to these characteristics which actually constitute the lifestyle of a true winner.

1. A Winner is Someone Who Cultivates and Develops an Intimate Relationship with God. A winner recognises that God is the Author and Finisher of his life; the One who created all things and through whom he can fulfil his destiny on earth. So he consciously and willingly submits his life to God’s authority as revealed in the Bible, putting his faith under the authority and Lordship of Jesus Christ. He also totally submits to the entirety of God’s plans for his life, being persuaded that God has the best plan for his life, coupled with the ultimate power to fulfil it: “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts … For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope … If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory … But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you (Isaiah 55:8-9; Jeremiah 29:11; Colossians 3:1-4; Matthew 6:33). A winner never takes his relationship with God for granted. He cherishes it, and daily walks in it, enriching it with qualitative times of intimate fellowship with God, in worship and prayer, enhanced with an intense and committed study of the word of God. A winner recognises that it is only in Christ Jesus he can live, and move, and have his being, so he clings to Jesus unswervingly, laying hold of His word, and of anyone or anything that can draw him closer to Jesus.

2. A Winner is Someone Who Delights Himself in the Lord. A winner is totally dedicated to God and makes every effort to do things that are pleasing to God. Here is what the Bible tells us: “Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper … Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart” (Psalm 1:1-3; 37:4). Notice that in delighting himself in the Lord, a winner strategically positions himself for the favour of God to fall upon him, empowering him to prosper and excel in all his undertakings in life. This is why a true winner does not need to be reminded to attend church services, conferences, or other related meetings, but goes all out for it, recognising that God’s blessings are poured out on His people when they are gathered in harmony and in true fellowship in His house (Psalm 133).

A winner reverences God, daily walking in the fear of God, constantly giving Him praise and worship due His name. A winner is one with a grateful heart who will give God glory and thanks for whatever He does in his life. A winner never takes God for granted, nor procrastinates when it comes to doing the will of God. That is why a winner does not need to be reminded or coaxed before he pays his tithes or sows bountifully or generously into the work of God because he recognises that God is the source of every good thing he has ever received. Therefore, he willingly and joyfully brings a part of all that God has given him in appreciation, so as to keep open the fountain from which the blessings of God flows unlimitedly to him. A winner is not ashamed to declare the true gospel of Christ to anyone he has an opportunity to share it with, being persuaded that it is the power of God unto salvation (Romans 1:16), an urgent truth he needs to pass on to others so they too can be saved and blessed. A winner cannot afford to walk in bitterness or unforgiveness or tolerate sin in his life because he knows that these are cankers that will corrupt and destroy his Christian testimony and destiny.

3. A winner Has A Winner’s Mindset. Developing a winner’s mindset stems from knowing who you are in Christ Jesus, as well as His plans for your life. You need to remember that as a child of God, God has got you covered with a good plan for your life (Jeremiah 29:11). He has got you covered with a total protection and provision plan for your life (Psalm 91; Philippians 4:19), and He will perfect all that concerns you (Psalm 138:8). His Word says that God always gives you the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15:57), that you are more than a conqueror through Christ who loves you (Romans 8:37). You need to arm yourself with these and many other victory-based scriptures, being assured that God has not planned any defeat for you in your life but victory all the way. Make sure that your voice is a voice of encouragement to yourself by reminding yourself of the promises of God, such as “with God all things are possible; I will never leave you nor forsake you, that you may boldly say the Lord is my Helper.” I can study well and pass my exams, etc. A winner’s mindset gives you the ability to see beyond the natural. It distinguishes achievers from non-achievers. A winner looks beyond the obvious, not moved by facts, but by acute revelation of truth gained from God through intimate fellowship.

Thus, as a winner you need to have a dream. Create a world of success in your imagination regardless of your present reality. Keep that picture central in your mind everyday of your life. Rehearse it to yourself and commit it to God in prayer. Let God know what your dream is and why you want to achieve it, and thereafter, back it up with relevant action. In fact, write that vision or picture you have of yourself down on paper. Focus on that picture or vision you have and walk towards achieving it, assured that with God all things are possible. Confidence, dedication, courage, boldness, endurance, patience, and faithfulness are qualities of a winner’s mindset which you can source in Christ, reinforced by an intimate relationship with God and His word. A winner sees challenges as opportunities to prove God’s faithfulness in his life. He sees problems and trials as stepping stones to greater victories and promotion. So he confidently embraces them in the wisdom and strength of the Lord, learning whatever lesson needs to be learned through them, and finally coming through them victoriously. Thus you are not afraid to undertake any project at any stage in your life, and also do not consider failure as an option because you know that God has not made any provision for you to fail.

God willing, we will continue with Part Two of this study next month. Meanwhile here are powerful good news reports for you to read and enjoy.

“I use Rev. Ifeoma.s book, Your Prophetic Breakthrough Prayer Capsules For Dominion. We have our Bibles and all these words in these prayers are in our Bibles. If we have to do it, we have to use so many hours to get them down. The time Ifeoma has taken to get these words out for us in these prayers is a lot—the hours of searching to get all these scriptures for me in this book. God’s word makes angels to go out and perform the words of God. I used God’s word in this book to speak over myself and my children’s lives. My children had walked quite far away from the Lord. A couple of Sundays ago, they both came to me and said they wanted to go to Church with me. My daughter’s faith has been revived. I sure recommend this book to everyone to get it and use it”—J.H., Southport.

“I want to thank God for my friend who turned up to this meeting, the R.O.R.M.I. Healing Glory Outpouring Rally today (11th April 2015), and accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Lord and personal Saviour. I also thank God for setting her free from a lot of emotional hurts today. Praise God!—C.M., Southport.

“It is my first experience being in a place like this (Healing Rally). It’s been overwhelming really for me. It’s been very satisfactory, very enjoyable. Thank you all for being so very kind and nice to me. Now I am born-again. I love Jesus. With so much anxiety in the world today this is really what we need”—N.K., Southport.

“I thank God for His goodness. I thank God for the life of Rev. Ifeoma Fiiriter. Last Year, 2014, I had a team leader who was problematic to me. I thank God that He positions people in our lives to uphold us in times of trial. The attack was so bad. I called Rev. Ifeoma and told her that I had this person who was challenging my profession because the way she was jumping was horrible. Rev. Ifeoma said, “don’t worry. Let us pray.” And she prayed with me and made certain declarations. I thank God for those declarations because they came to pass. The attack was so severe that it was like something that could choke me, but God used Rev. Ifeoma to destroy it through the prayer that was prayed. Part of the declaration was that if the person continued to trouble me she would leave the place, and that came to pass. Also, I have been having this enlargement on my neck for a while—going and coming back. I have been to the surgery to see my G.P. about this, and it goes and comes back. So on this particular time, when it started again, I could feel the enlargement and I was not happy about it. So I called Rev. Ifeoma and told her what I was experiencing and she prayed with me about it and that boosted my faith. I have experienced the healing of God and that is so sweet. When He does it, it is so sweet and there is nothing left behind. The baggage is thrown away. I reminded God that His daughter had prayed for me and that He should confirm it, and He did. I noticed since last week that the enlargement had disappeared. Even my husband confirmed my healing. My neck is now looking good. It is the doing of Almighty God, using His vessel, Rev. Ifeoma Fiiriter”—A.A., Luton.

“At the time of the last R.O.R.M.I. Healing Glory Conference in Manchester on Saturday, 6th December 2014, I was feeling a little despondent, but not totally in despair. I had been to two interviews on the job I am currently on, but no success. Rev. Ifeoma gave a word about someone who was dealing with disappointment over a job situation. I came out for prayer and told Rev. Ifeoma about the issue I was facing. Rev. Ifeoma prayed for me for a breakthrough, assuring me that God would place me where He wanted me to be. There was also another person who prayed for me, confirming the same thing. I went for the interview a third time. Prior to the interview, God dropped a song of encouragement in my spirit, which stayed with me for two weeks. I stood on that word and song that I am a child of God and that I have got the victory. I went for the interview and on the 10th of February 2015, I successfully got the job, two weeks after the interview. If there is anything you need, don’t give up, no matter how many times you have to do it. And you have to have the tenacity to keep persevering. Praise God!”—A.W., Manchester.
